SCALE WARBIRD RACING ASSOCIATION

Fixed-Bracket Racing Format Supplemental Rules

January 2000

Description of Event:

This racing format is the primary racing format of the SWRA and is the only format that will be used to track season point accumulations for SWRA members. Racing in this format will be divided into three brackets consisting of the Bronze class, Silver class, and Gold class. All classes have an associated breakout time. Aircraft flying a clean 10-lap heat in less time than the established breakout time for their racing class will be disqualified for that heat, receiving 0 (zero) flying points for that heat.

Selection of Racing Class:

At the time of registration, contestants will declare which racing class his/her model will compete in. The selection of class is the contestant’s choice. Contestants may elect to enter more than one class, if they have a separate individual model for each class entered.

Event Operations:

Racing will be conducted on the standard SWRA course in accordance with all other SWRA Mini-Reno warbird racing rules. The static portion of the event will be conducted in accordance with the SWRA scale rules and judges’ guide.

Breakout Times:

The following breakout times will be used in the fixed-bracket racing format. There are no adjustments to these breakout times.

Bronze class: 2 minutes, 38 seconds

Silver class: 2 minutes, 08 seconds

Gold class: 1 minute, 38 seconds

Changing Declared Racing Class:

Any pilot, who feels that he/she selected the wrong racing class, may approach the contest director to request a class change. A pilot may request a class change only once per event. If there is an opening in the matrix in the class that the pilot is requesting to be moved to, the contest director may reassign the pilot. Changes in class usually do not take effect until the beginning of the second day of racing. Only 50% of any racing points accumulated by the pilot prior to switching classes will be counted toward the pilot’s racing score in the new class.
