Scale Warbird Racing Association Endorsement of AMA Sanctioned Racing Events

The purpose of SWRA endorsement is four-fold, and shall be considered the terms for endorsement:

  1. Ensure that events advertised as SWRA events are sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics and are hosted by AMA chartered clubs. This will assure that AMA insurance is in effect and that AMA safety regulations will be enforced.
  2. Ensure that there is a comprehensive effort made to prevent scheduling conflicts between race dates.
  3. Ensure that the current SWRA rules are enforced regarding aircraft qualifications, pilot qualifications, scale judging, and racing rules. This will assure that contestants compete under a common set of rules throughout the United States.
  4. Ensure that competitors’ finish positions and the national points for fixed bracket racing are reported and recorded by the SWRA in a timely manner.
SWRA Endorsement Procedure

At the time any racing event is requested to be placed on the official SWRA calendar of events, an application form for SWRA endorsement is sent to the contest director, (or club), hosting the event. The application will request specific information regarding the identity of the contest director, the club, and the date, times, and places that scale judging and racing will occur. It also requires copies of the AMA event sanction and the AMA club charter are returned with the request. An application fee of $ ________ will be charged to cover the cost of duplicating the member handbook & CD guide, postage, and other paperwork. This fee may be waived if the contest director or host club already has current SWRA documents.

Clubs are not permitted to advertise events as "SWRA Sanctioned" but are encouraged to advertise them as "AMA Sanctioned" and "SWRA Endorsed" in event flyers. SWRA members are encouraged to look for the endorsement in events that they are planning to attend as a means to assure they are attending an SWRA recognized event.

The endorsement shall be sent to the club as soon as the application is reviewed and approved, but in no case later than 7 days after receipt of a complete application package. In most cases, the SWRA Race Committee Chairman will perform the review and approval of the endorsement.

The contest director, or host club, shall return the race results no later than 7 days after the event utilizing the SWRA race results form. National points will be computed, compiled, and reported in the SWRA newsletter.
